Born July 5, 1795 (July 13 (15?), 1793?) at Netherfowlie,
Rathen Parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
Son of William (died August 28, 1839, at age 90)
and Mary McKay Yule (died November 22, 1862, at age 95).
Married Margaret Leeds on July 10, 1815 (July 20, 1817?).
Came first to Quebec, Canada, in 1840.
Margaret died August 24, 1834, and is buried in the Rathen Cemetery.
Married Jane Watson.
He was a farmer.
He died on May 29, 1868 (1871?), at age 76, at Somers, Wisconsin.

Alexander Galloway Gibbon, and her sister, Sophia, in Somers, WI, while
a young woman after her parents died earlier in Scotland. It is
believed that they were well-to-do in Scotland.

Her mother died when she was 2 years old. When her father remarried, Jessie was treated like Cinderella by her stepmother (see
People Behind You
by daughter, Ruby Hughes Tothill). After completing her schooling, she
left home to live and work as a housekeeper for the Bain family near
Millburn. Her Aunt Beatrice (Betsy) Yule Smith did not feel this was
right, so she and her husband, George Simpson Smith, took Jessie in and
paid her housekeeper wages. They treated Jessie like a foster daughter
and part of the family. Married
