Margaret DeYoung
Margaret L. DeYoung, 82, of Millburn, died April 22 at her
home.
Mrs. DeYoung was born Jan. 25, 1918 in Millburn, the daughter of the
late Jess and Margaret (White) Denman and has been a life-long
resident. After graduating Antioch High School in 1935, she attended
DeKalb Teachers College and taught grade school in the Lake Villa
and Gilmer school districts.
On June 9, 1945 she married Frank DeYoung in Millburn
After retiring from teaching, she was a volunteer at Victory
Memorial Hospital and then at Victory Lakes Continuing Care
Center. She was a 4-H leader for 11 years, and both worked and
volunteered at the Lake County Fair for more than 40 years.
She was a life-long member of Millburn Congregational Church, a
50-year member of the choir, a founding member of MYLO, and
superintendent and teacher for the Sunday School for many
years.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; two sisters, Grace Kane of
Libertyville and Alice Bauman of Lindenhurst; one brother-in-law,
George DeYoung; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by her brothers, Kenneth and Robert Denman.
Funeral services were held April 25 at Millburn Congregational
Church, with Pastor Paul Meltzer officiating. Interment was in
Millburn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may
be made to A Safe Place or the Millburn Congregational Church.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Strang Funeral Home of
Antioch.
