D. H. Minto Dies;
Bureau's Ex-Chief
ANTIOCH - D. Harold Minto, 82, a past president and charter member
of the Lake County Farm Bureau, died last night in Victory
Memorial Hospital, Waukegan. He had been ill for several
weeks.
Mr. Minto was born April 30, 1880, in Antioch Township. He
resided all his life on the family farm on Deep Lake Road, near
Antioch.
He married Mildred Holloway on Oct. 18, 1905, in Union Grove, Wis.
She died Jan, 21, 1858.
He was past president, a founder and a director of the Lake County
Fair Association.
Mr. Minto was past secretary of Lake-Cook Farm Supply Co., a
trustee of Antioch Township Fire District, past treasurer of the
Millburn Mutual Insurance Co. and had served as an Antioch
Township School trustee.
He was president of the Home Oak Cemetery Association and a member
of the Millburn Congregational Church.
Surviving are a son, Donald H. of Warwick, R.I.; five daughters,
Katherine of Decatur, Ruth of Antioch, Mrs. Grace Hines of Aurora,
Mrs. Clarice Pharo of Tomah, Wis., and Lura Johaningsmeir of
Waukegan; a sister Una Jean Minto of Pilgrim Place, Claremont,
Calif.; and 14 grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Millburn
Congregational Church. Rev. L. H. Messersmith, pastor, will
officiate.
Burial will be in Home Oak Cemetery, near Antioch.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. tomorrow to 11 a.m. Thursday at the
Strang Funeral Home, 1055 Main St., and from 12:30 p.m. Thursday
until time of service at the church.
