Katherine V. Minto
Katherine V. Minto, descendant of one of Lake County's pioneer families, died February 25, at age 96 in the Plymouth Place Retirement Community, LaGrange Park, IL. Ms. Minto was born at the family farm on Deep Lake Road, Lake Villa, educated at Oakland School and Antioch High School, received a Bachelor of, Science degree from Beloit College and a Master of Science degree from the University of Colorado. She taught science at Davis, Depew and Decatur, IL high schools. She became head of the Science Department at Eisenhower High School in Decatur, and retired in 1971. Ms. Minto moved to Plymouth Place in 1988. Survivors include Clarice Pharo of Phoenix, Grace Hines of Aurora and Lura Johaningsmeir of LaGrange Park, IL. A memorial service will be held at 2PM Wednesday, March 19 at Plymouth Place, 315 N. LaGrange Rd.

Curtis Leafblad
Curtis Jon Leafblad, 35, of Antioch, died March 2 as a result of a snowmobile accident in northern Wisconsin.
Mr. Leafblad was born Nov. 21, 1967 in Waukegan, the son of Douglas and Barbara (DeFoe) Leafblad and had lived in Millburn before moving to Antioch a year ago. He had worked for Carl Regenaur Concrete in Waukegan before he joined the Operating Engineers Local 150 and was currently working for DK Construction in Kenosha. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed Nascar racing, skiing and farming with his father-in-law.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Elfering, whom he married on Sept. 5, 1992 at St. Patrick Church in Wadsworth; his children, Brynn and Troy at home; his father, Douglas (Vicki) Leafblad of Gurnee, and his mother Barbara Leafblad of Gurnee; two brothers, Cory (Suzanne) and Craig (Sherry), both of Gurnee; two sisters, Carrie Leafblad of Albuquerque, and Amy Leafblad of Gurnee; his step-brothers, Jeff (Kellie) Indlecoffer of Gurnee, Greg (Traci) Indlecoffer of Minneapolis, and Brad (Melissa) Indlecoffer of Lindenhurst; and his parents-in-law, Joe and Pat Elfering of Wadsworth.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today, March 6, at St. Patrick Church in Wadsworth. Interment will be in Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville. Funeral arrangements were handled by Strang Funeral Home of Antioch. Those desiring may make contributions to the family in his memory.
