Resignation Letter
To the First Religious Society of Millburn.
Being fully persuaded that your spiritual
interests would be promoted by the efficient
labors of a younger Minister, I avail myself
of the terms of agreement, "That the connection
between us should be disolved at the request of
either party by giving six months notice."
I now give the stipulated notice that at
the expiration of six months from the present date
(June 2, 1862) it is my request to be released from
the performance of the duties of the Pastor and
ministerial offices among you: and in case
an acceptable supply offers, I will withdraw
at any subsequent time.
And I hereby greatfully acknowledge the
many kind offices, and other proofs of
attachment and confidence, which I have experienced
during a ministry of Eighteen years among you.
Wishing you grace mercy and peace
I subscribe myself your's in the hope of gospel.
William B. Dodge.
