Rilla R. Monroe
Rilla R. Monroe, 58 years old of Antioch, IL passed away Monday, January 13, 2003 at Victory Memorial Hospital, Waukegan. She was born May 25, 1944 in Waukegan the daughter of the late Gordon and Florence (Jones) Hughes and has been a life long resident of the area. Rilla was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Whitewater with a major in elementary education. She was employed at the A & P Store and the 1st National Bank in Antioch before working for many years as a laboratory technician for Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago.
Survivors are her sister Randy (Henry) Sorell of Johnston, South Carolina, 2 grandchilren, Desirae Alyse Locasio and Franchesca Anna Marie Locascio and her dear friend and companion Gerald Miller.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter Cheryl.

Shirley M. Murphy
Shirley M. Murphy, 93 years old of Hartland, WI formerly of Millburn, IL passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at Hartland Healthcare Manor in Waukesha, WI. She was born in the family country home in Millburn on July 17, 1909, the daughter of the late Owney and Abigail (Ames) Hollenbeck. She was a member of the Millburn Congregational Church and a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star Millburn Chapter #570. Shirley served in the U. S. Army during WWII and was a member of the Lake County American Legion Post #1122 of Waukegan. On January 22, 1944 she married William John "Pat" Murphy in Chicago and he preceded her in death on December 13, 1986. Before her retirement she worked as a registered nurse in Lake County, Illinois. After she moved to Hartland, WI in 1985 she joined the First Congregational Church.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews, including Lee (Carol) Hollenbeck of Pewaukee, WI; many great nieces, great nephews and many great great nieces and great great nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Fraiser and Harmon Hollenbeck.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 1, 2003 at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, 1055 Main St. (Rte 83) Antioch, IL with Pastor Paul Meltzer of the Millburn Congregational Church, officiating. Interment will be in Hickory Union Cemetery, Newport Twsp., IL. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:00 AM Saturday until time of services. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the Historic Millburn Community Association, 38757 N. Hwy 45, Millburn, IL 60046 or the Millburn Congregational Church in her memory.
