Richard P. Martin
Richard P. Martin, 70, of Los Angeles, California, died February 1, 1984 in Ensenada, Mexico.
Mr. Martin was born October 31, 1913, in Millburn, Illinois. He was the son of the late Edward A. and Eva I. Kennedy Martin, pioneers of Lake County. He lived in Millburn until moving to California. He was a member of the Millburn Congregational Church; the Millburn Masonic Lodge No 127 A.F. and A.M., and a member of the Los Angeles Scottish Rife Temple. He served in the United States Navy during World War II as a radar man. He attended Lake Forest College in Lake Forest where he earned a B.A. Degree and Northwestern University in Evanston, earning a PH.D. He taught in Lake County for several years and at Western Military Academy in Alton, Illinois. He also taught in the Los Angeles city schools for several years, and after his retirement, taught during the summer in Monterey, Mexico.
Survivors include several cousins.
Memorial services will be held 11:15 AM Sunday, April 8, 1984 at the Millburn Congregational Church, Millburn, Illinois, with the Rev. Donald McPeek and the Rev. L. H. Messersmith officiating. Masonic services will be immediately following at the Millburn Masonic Hall. Interment will be private in Millburn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends desiring may make contributions to the Millburn Congregational Church in his memory.
