Ruth M. Minto
Miss Ruth M. Minto, 68, of Downers Grove, Ill. died Tuesday,
Sept. 28, 1976 at Hinsdale Sanitorium in Hinsdale, Ill.
She was born April 22, 1908 in Antioch, the daughter of the
late D. Harold and Mildred Minto and had resided in Antioch until
moving to Waukegan in 1963. She lived in Fairview Retirement Home in
Downers Grove since Aug. of 1976. Miss Minto graduated from Beloit
College and received her Masters Degree at the University of
Illinois. She had taught school at the Grub School, the Pomeroy
Grade School near Lake Zurich, the Howe School, The Wauconda Grade
School, where she was the Principal and later at Neal Jr. High School
in North Chicago. Miss Minto was a member of the Millburn
Congregational Church where she taught Sunday School for 43 years.
She served as church Treasurer for 15 years. Miss Minto belonged to
the Ladies Aid and M. Y. L. O. Club of the church. She was a member
of the A. A. U. W. in Waukegan; the Waukegan Friends of the Library
and the retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include one brother, Donald (Catherine) Minto, of
Warwick, Rhode Island; four sisters, Miss Katherine Minto, Decatur,
Ill., Mrs. Clarice (Donald) Pharo, Phoenix, Arizona, Mrs. Grace
Hines, Aurora, Ill., and Mrs. Lura Jean (Henry) Johaningsmeir, of
LaGrange Park, Ill.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Millburn
Congregational Church in Millburn with Reverend McPeek of the church
officiating. Interment will be in Home Oak Cemetery near Antioch.
Friends may call at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME, 1055 Main Street,
Antioch from 4-9 p.m. on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorial may
be made to the Millburn Congregational Church in Miss Minto's memory.
