She'll remember Millburn
Alice Bauman Anderson will have every reason to remember the smiling
students helping celebrate her upcoming retirement from a teaching
career at Millburn School.
Not ony have they been eager scholars during the past months, but some
are also children of parents who were equally eager to please when they
were her students.
Parents, students and staff will join in hosting a retirement party for Mrs.
Anderson scheduled for June 8 at the school in Wadsworth from 3 to 5 p.m.
The party will mark Mrs. Anderson's retirement after 38 years of teaching,
30 at Millburn.
During her early years at Millburn - serving as teacher of all eight grades,
principal, school board secretary and even doubling as janitor -
Mrs. Anderson earned $100 per month.
She was a graduate of Waukegan High School and Northern Illinois Teacher's
College in DeKalb. After marrying in 1937, she temporarily retired from
teaching but returned to Millburn in 1948.
The public and former students are urged to attend the June 8 party.
