Miss C. S. White, 71, School Teacher, Dies
Miss Cora Sarah White, 71, Loon Lake, died Monday at the home
of her sister, Mrs. Arthur Fox, Cornell, Wis. She was a daughter
of the late Andrew T. White and Jane Hughes White, Grayslake,
both of pioneer families of Lake county. She had taught at many
schools in the county including Andrew Cooke and the old South
school.
The body rests at White and Tobin funeral home. Services will
be conducted by the Rev. J. W. F. Davies, First Congregational
church, at the funeral home Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in
Oakland cemetery, Loon Lake.
A graduate of the Loon Lake school, she was graduated from the
Dixon Normal school in 1893. Until 1897 she taught in Lake county
rural schools. From 1903-09 she taught in North Chicago; then in
Highland park until she came to Waukegan. She retired in
1920.
She is survived by two nieces, Mrs. Aletha Knigge, Chicago;
and Mrs. Mary Jane McIntosh, Joliet; and among other cousins,
three in Waukegan, Mrs. Frank Kennedy, 926 Grove st.; Mrs.
Charles Harrison, 17 Edison ct.; and Lloyd J. White, 225
Ridgeland ave., and in Zion, David Pullen.
