Gone to His Rest.
William Dexter Sadler, the father of Dr. O. W. Sadler, the
well-known oculist, died Wednesday morning, December 28,
1892, at 7:15 o'clock at the residence of his son,
Grandview avenue, Mt. Washington, after a lingering
illness. The deceased was born in East Conway, Mass.,
November 11, 1817 and on January 19, 1842, was married at
Brewerton, New Jersey, to Miss Nancy Spires, who survives
him. For about six months the aged couple had made their
home with their son. For many years Mr. Sadler ha_ been a
sufferer from chronic ailments and he possessed patience
and fortitude in such marked degree that he was always
cheerful, and seldom known to complain. He was peculiarly
retiring in disposition and self-sacrificing in his
devotion to the wants and interests of others. He was
widely esteemed for his many excellent qualities, and his
memory will be cherished and revered ___ a large circle of
