Death of Mrs. Jamieson, of Millburn.
Again has death entered our community and church, casting a deep
gloom over all. Only last week he took Mrs. Minto, and this week
demands Mrs. John Jamison for his own. Mrs. Jamieson was born in
Scotland, October 22d, 1826, and came here about 22 years ago,
and has lived here since, respected and beloved by the entire
community for her Christian virtues and kindness to all. She was
to the young an adviser; to the sick a willing watcher, careless
of herself if she could but do them some good—relieve a pain or
cheer the drooping spirits; to the church a consistent member,
and a shining light; to their children a mother indeed, careful
of their every want in sickness and in health; to her husband all
that wife could be—patient, kind and true; possessed of energy
tempered by moderation, ambition governed by good judgement, her
loss to the community is great, but to her family it is
irreparable. Mrs. Jamieson always enjoyed good health until
about a year since, when a cancer made its appearance in her
breast, and although she submitted to two very severe operations
with great courage and fortitude, it caused her death on the 2d
inst. She struggled hard for life, not for her own sake or that
she feared to die; but was sorry to leave her young children to a
cold and selfish world alone.

WELCH. - In Antioch, April 11th, 1878, from the effects of
injuries occasioned by a fall, James Welch, aged 68 years.
Mr. Welch some days since fell a distance of about three feet,
striking his neck against a plank. His injuries were very severe
and, as it ultimately proved, fatal. He has long been a citizen
of Lake county and his death is mourned by a large circle of
relatives and friends.
