Joshua Lewis

Born October 15, 1788, in Delhi, Delaware County, New York. Son of Randall and Elsie Rathbone Lewis. Married Nancy Kidder about 1809 in Delhi, New York. See tree above for his sixteen children. Bought land from federal government and moved near Millburn, Ill. in 1845. Died November 13, 1862, at age 73 years. Buried in Warren Cemetery, Gurnee, Illinois.

Nancy Kidder

Born June 1, 1793, in Delhi, Delaware County, New York. Married Joshua Lewis about 1809. Died September 20, 1871, at age 76 years 10 months 20 days. Burried in Warren Cemetery, Gurnee, Illinois.

Name might have been Linnar. Born July 24, 1810, in Gainsville, Genesse County, New York. Married Harriet Lawrence Hoag on March 11, 1832. Died May 14, 1884. Buried in Warren Cemetery, Gurnee, Ill.

George

Born about 1811 in Gainsville, New York. Married Elizabeth Whitney. Died August 4, 1847, at age 26 years. Buried in Warren Cemetery.

Charles

Name might have been Sidney. Born September 15, 1814, in New York. Married Harriett Jewett in 1848. She was born in 1822 and died in 1867. Married Nellie Williams. She was born in 1834 and died May 16, 1913. Died August 22, 1878 (1875?). Buried in Warren Cemetery.

Elizabeth

Known as Betsey. Born 1815 in Gainsville, New York. Married John Johnson. Died 1859. Body returned to Warren Cemetery for burial.

Austin

Born 1817 in Gainsville, New York. Married Fanny Giles about June 11, 1849, in Lake County, Ill. She died February 2, 1854, at age 25 years. Married Lucy Ann (Llewianna?) Pierce (Pearce?) about September 15, 1853, in Lake County, Ill. She was born about 1835 in Vermont. Children by Lucy Ann: Allice, born about 1857, in Ill.

Ruth

Born May 21, 1819, in Gainsville, New York. Married Peter Powers Melindy about April 10, 1847, in Lake County, Ill. He was born about 1819. Children: Annis, born about 1851, in Ill.; Cynthia, born about 1854, in Ill.; Emina J., born about 1859, in Ill. Died in 1900 at Eagle Lake, Minnesota.

Rhoda

Born May 1, 1822 (1821?), in Gainsville, New York. Married Samuel M. Dewey. He was born about 1825 in New York. He died September 7, 1880, at age 54 years 11 months 21 days. Children: Eliza, born September 29, 1846, married John Wedge died January 23, 1934; Elizabeth, born about 1847; Henry H., born about 1851, married Angeline Frazier about September 8, 1874; Evaline A., born about 1854; Charles D., born about 1857; L., born about 1859; Fred L., born in 1862, married Emma Van Patten in 1884; Lewis E., died December 7, 1873, at age 7 years 8 months 10 days. Died February 26, 1898, in Ansley, Nebraska, at age 75 years 9 months. Buried in Warren Cemetery.

Joshua, Jr.

Born February 18, 1824, in Gainsville, New York. Married Amanda Walters about November 23, 1847. She was born March 20, 1827, in London, Canada, and came to Waukegan about 1845. She died January 12, 1893 (obituary). Children (two boys and five daughters): Died April 16, 1884.

Eliza

Born about 1825 in Gainsville, New York. Died October 6, 1845, at age 21 years. Buried in Warren Cemetery, Gurnee, Illinois.

Cynthia

Born April 20, 1827, Gainsville, Wyoming County, New York. Came to Lake County in 1845. Married Daniel H. Harmon on November 4, 1846, in Lake County, Ill. He was born in Virginia in 1821 and died on June 20, 1901. Moved to new home on Sheridan Road, in Waukegan, on November 6, 1875. Died May 1, 1897, at age 70 years and 10 months (obituary). Buried with husband in Warren Cemetery.

Homer

Born about 1828 in Gainsville, New York. Married Angeline M. Pratt about October 6, 1852, in Lake County, Ill. She was born about 1833 in New York. Children: Lilla, born about 1856; Frank L., died September 16, 1859, at age 6 years 2 months 18 days; Fredy A., died February 26, 1864, at age 2 years; Arthur, born about 1869 in Illinois. Died August 26, 1888, in Los Angeles, Calif.

Lucy A.

Middle name may have been Aronimus. Born about 1830 in Gainsville, New York. Married Aranamus Miller about November 13, 1847, in Lake County, Ill. Children: Mary A., born about 1847; Emily, born about 1849. Died at Lincoln, Neb.

Paulina

Name may have been Pauline. Born about 1832 in Gainsville, New York. Died about 1835 in Gainsville, New York, at age 3 years.

Amanda Hodges

Born June 6, 1834, in New York. Married William H. Hockaday on January 10, 1855, in Lake County, Ill. Children Died November 13, 1910, at Duluth, Minnesota (obituary).

James Madison

Also seen middle name spelled Mattison. Born January 25, 1836, in Gainsville, New York. Married Katherine Hoffman about June 21, 1862. She was born August 3, 1838, and died April 15, 1920. Children: Louise (Lourena?) M., born May 1, 1863, died December 17, 1873; Franklin, born Sept 30, 1864, married Mary E. Gartley (9/6/1869 - 2/20/1938), died June 29, 1916; Cynthia, born March 20, 1867, married Lewis H. Miller on November 15, 1890, died June 26, 1956; Cora, born January, 1882, married Mr. McCollough. Died April 19, 1910. Buried with wife in Warren Cemetery.

Born on May 8, 1861. Married Harriett M. Sluman on June 22, 1892. Children: George Sluman Lewis, married Charity Hillebrand (1899-1923), she the daughter of William H. (1871-1946) and Bessie G. (1874-1947) Hillebrand, son William. Died January 10, 1942.

Herbert A.

Born about 1864. Married Katherine Miller about December 29, 1894. Children: Dorothy, married Mr. Purdy; Marion, married Mr. Turton. Settled in South Chicago about 1894. Liveryman. Later a bookkeeper in Winsor Park. Died December 25, 1928, at Jackson Park (obituary).

Born about 1872. Married William S. Price about December 31, 1895.
