Born in Devonshire, England. Married Anna Martin in England. Came to Newport Township, Lake County, Illinois, in 1839. Bought land from federal government. See tree above for children. First child born in England, remaining children were all born in Ill. Cabinet maker. Died in 1846. Buried in Millburn Cemetery.

Anna Martin

Also seen as Ann and Anne. Born about April, 1806, in England. Married Henry Chope. Came to United States in 1834. See tree above for children. Died December 27, 1897, at age 91 years and 8 months. Buried in Millburn Cemetery. (notice).

Born June, 1843 (1841?). Married (unknown). Children. Married Emmaline (Clark?) Stone (1842-1887) about June 8, 1880. She appears to be the daughter of Cornelius (b c1802) and Malinda (Melinda?) Kidder (b c1808) Clark. Died September 27 (maybe 4 or 25?), 1908, of heart failure. Buried Warren Cemetery (obituary).

Born May 13, 1870. Married Mary Evelyn Nellis on November 20, 1889, at Kenosha, Wisconsin. She was born February, 1872, and died on December 20, 1965, at age 92. Children: Carl John, born May 18, 1890, died July 29, 1959 (obituary); Mabel Evelyn, born March 21, 1894, married Dennis Shea, married Earl Strang on February 5, 1919; Irene Emeline, born April 13, 1900, married Louis Frederick Schwicht on December 23, 1926, died June 15, 1986 (obituary); Daniel William, born May 12, 1908, married Dorothy Mae Hanson on December 4, 1929, died February 20, 1975. Died October 9, 1948, at Gurnee, Illinois.
