Barbara Pope
Barbara Pope, 91, of Millburn, died Saturday, November 28, 1998 at Provena St. Therese Hospital.
She was born April 5, 1907.
Hers was a life filled with many accomplishments and interests. Early school years in the Millburn area formed an abiding love for the beauty of the country. She was a graduate of Barnard College. Following a trip to Europe, she began to work at Illinois Bell Telephone Company where she remained until her retirement in 1965. Having reached a high level of achievement for women in that era. Her love of Country resulted in her decision to retire to the farm on Millburn Road where much time was devoted to working for the development of what became the Village of Old Mill Creek. Her family and many friends were especially fortunate for the example she set and for her friendship and love. She will be sorely missed.
Survivors include her Niece, Louise W. (Roland R.) DeMartin; great nieces and nephews, Diana Louise DeMartin, Brian Heaton, Daniel R. (Judy G.) DeMartin, Barbara L. DeMartin, and Douglas J. Valerie R. DeMartin; Great Great nieces and nephews, Lisa H. (J.P.) Conmy, Lucy, Joseph, and Douglas DeMartin, and Louise, Isabelle, and William DeMartin.
Graveside services will be at 1 PM Wednesday, December 2, 1998 in the Millburn Cemetery. MARSH FUNERAL HOME OF WAUKEGAN is in charge of arrangements.
