Katheryn M. Lewin (nee Filler), 91 of Libertyville, Illinois
passed away Thursday, November 13, 1997 at the Libertyville Manor
Care Center. She was born in La Crosse County, Wisconsin on June
30, 1906, and graduated from the one room school in Midway, WI in
1914 and from the Onalaska, WI High School. She received her
training as a teacher from LaCrosse Normal School, graduating in
1928.
Mrs. Lewin taught school in Lake County, IL for 23 years retiring
in 1962. She was a member of the Alumni Assoc., of the University
of Wisconsin in LaCrosse, a lifetime member of the National
Retired Teacher Assoc., a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers
Assoc. of Lake County, IL and the Millburn Congregational Church,
and Millburn Ladies Aid and Bible Study Club.
She leaves her daughter Delores (Larry) Muller of Lemont, Pa; her
grandchildren, Marcia Muller of Lemont and Mark Muller of Orlando,
FL; her sister-in-law Virginia Kayman of Waukegan and her longtime
friend Mary Frank; also several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Merrill H. Lewin, whom she
married on September 26, 1942, her parents John (Emma) Filler, and
3 brothers.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 28,
1997 at the Libertyville Manor Care Facility with the Rev. Gehl
Devore officiating. Interment will be privately held. Memorials
may be given to the American Heart Assoc. or Make A Wish
Foundation. Arrangements were entrusted to Strang Funeral Chapel &
Crematorium, LTD 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, Illinois 60030.
