William A. Corris, 91, of Russell, Illinois, died December 8, 1985, at his home.
He was born February 10, 1894, in Russell, and had lived there all his life. He farmed for many years, was a carpenter for 10 years, and worked for the town of Newport, and later operated his own trucking business. He was a member of the Russell Community Church and the Winthrop Harbor AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; 2 nieces, Laura (Robert) Horton of Antioch and Helen Corris of Russell, 7 nephews, Eugene Koenes of West Allis, Wisconsin, Jon Pedley of Ingleside, Merrill Corris of Dalton, Wisconsin, John Corris of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Roy and George Corris of Russell, and Richard of Missouri; 5 grandnephews and 2 grandnieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Laura Corris; 2 sisters, Myrtle Koenes and Laura Pedley; 2 half brothers, John Corris and Asa Corris; and 1 half sister, Mary Lewin.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 11, 1985, at 11 AM from the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, with Rev. Dan Nowotarski of the Russell Community Church officiating. Interment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday. Memorials to the Russell Community Church or the Newport Rescue Squad in his name would be appreciated.
