Gussie Zoe Hughes
Mrs. Gussie Zoe Hughes, 94, of Millburn, Illinois died Sunday,
December 7, 1980 at the Terrace Nursing Home in Waukegan.
She was born October 31, 1886 in Millburn and had been a life
long resident of Lake County. Mrs. Hughes was the daughter of the
late John and Hattie Thain, pioneer residents of the area. On
October 3, 1906 she married R. Guy Hughes in Millburn where they
operated a farm for may years. He preceded her in death on December
17, 1959.
Survivors include 2 sons, Gordon T. (Florence) Hughes at
Millburn and Oliver R. (Doris) Hughes of Antioch, Illinois. 1
daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth (Russell) Stern of Brownsville, Texas; 1
brother, Lyman Thain of Millburn; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grand-
children and 1 great-great-grand child. She was preceded in death by
1 son, G. Monteith Hughes in 1926 and 1 daughter, Mrs. Gertrude
Petersen in 1974 and also by 1 sister, Mrs. Hazel White.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Tuesday, December 9 at the
STRANG FUNERAL HOME, 1055 Main Street, Antioch with Reverend L. H.
Messersmith of Leisure Village officiating. Interment will be in
Millburn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon
Tuesday, December 9 until time of services. Friends desiring may
make contributions to the Antioch Rescue Squad or the Millburn
Cemetery Association in her memory.
