Amy C. Ames, 96, or Rte. 173, Newport Township passed away Oct. 7, 1973 at her home.
She was born Feb. 8, 1877 in LaFarge, Wisc. and moved to this area in 1900. Mrs. Ames taught school for several years in Russell and was a member of the North Prairie United Methodist Church, Lake County Homemakers Extension, and the Zion Senior Citizens Club. She was married to Henry C. Ames in 1902.
Survivors include her 5 sons, Alfred of Newport Township, Arthur, of Waukegan, Roderick, of Newport Township, Otto, and Wallace, both of Fox Lake; 1 daughter, Mrs. Geneveve Wescoat of Denver Col.; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1940 and an infant son, Louis.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. from the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. Pastor Marshall Stesty will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Rest Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 until 9 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon and evening. Memorial to North Prairie Church in her name would be appreciated.
