Edward Martins Observe 50th Wedding Year
MILLBURN – Mr. and Mrs. Edward A. Martin, of Millburn, were honored at an open house Saturday and Sunday on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. Host at the part was their son, Dr. Richard P. Martin, of Alton.
The Martins were married Oct. 22, 1908 at the George Kennedy home just north of Hickory Corners, where land had been purchased from the government by Mrs. Martin's grandmother in 1838. The Martins have lived in Millburn for the past 50 years and Mr. Martin has lived there for 71 years. Mr. Martin is 85 and Mrs. Martin is 81.
The party was a quiet one as Mrs. Martin is recovering from a broken hip, and greeted callers from her hospital bed in the living room.
Their son, is principal of the Lower School at Western Military Academy in Alton.
