Annual Meeting and Potluck Supper
Tuesday, April 5th at 6:00 p.m.
at Lauren Hall of Millburn Church
You’re invited to join us for a delicious potluck supper and annual membership meeting. Dinner at 6:00 p.m. will be followed by our General Meeting and election of selectmen at 7:00 p.m. Please bring a dish to pass. The speaker we arranged had a lastminute change of plans. We are unsure at the time of this mailing whether or not we will be able to find a suitable replacement. If anyone has any suggestions, please call Dorothy Berthold at 847-265-1967.
Membership Dues for 2005
As you know, we rely on your support to maintain and operate Martin’s General Store Museum and our local historical society. Membership dues (payable to the H.M.C.A., Inc.) for 2005 are due at this time. You may pay your dues at the Annual Meeting or send a check in the enclosed stamped envelope. We thank you in advance for your support.
Membership Dues:
Individual - $10
Family - $20
Individual Life Member - $100
Family Life Members - $150
Volunteers Needed!
We desperately need volunteer shopkeepers for Martin’s General Store Museum when it reopens in the spring. Please consider volunteering an afternoon of your time two or three times in 2005. It’s an easy job! NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY! The museum will be open April 17th. If interested, call Dorothy Berthold at 847-265-1967.
Annual Holiday Tea
A big thank you to Dorothy and Wolf Berthold for graciously inviting the members of the historical society to their home to celebrate the holidays in December! Millburn Cemetery Fence Restoration The H.M.C.A. and the Cemetery Committee of the Village of Old Mill Creek are working together to raise funds for the restoration of the Millburn Cemetery Fence. So far, the fence sections along Millburn Road have been temporarily secured and the main gates have been restored. Have you noticed the beautiful brass letters? Work will resume in the spring. We hope to raise additional funds to restore the entire fence. If you would like to donate to this worthy cause, please make your check payable to the H.M.C.A. and include a note informing us that your donation is for the restoration of the fence. The donations are tax deductible.
Memorial Day Service
As has been customary, the HMCA will again sponsor a Memorial Day Service at Millburn Cemetery. This year’s service will be held on Monday, May 30th at 2:00 p.m. This year the service will be held around the flagpole rather than at the bottom of the hill. Please bring your lawn chairs and flowers to place on veteran’s graves. Mark your calendars now.
Membership
Thank you to all of our members for their continued support of the Historic Millburn Community Association, Inc. Without membership support and donations, we would be unable to continue our mission to preserve, protect, and enhance the Village of Millburn of Old Mill Creek, Illinois.
