Dear Friends and Neighbors:

The Forest Preserve District decided not to utilize our suggestions, one of which was to make the entrance to McDonald's Woods on Route 45 with a covered bridge effect and landscaped entrance. However they have been doing some work on McDonald's Woods cleaning up the area, moving trees, thinning out the pines, removing the multiflower rose bushes and Buckeye bushes as they are not native to the area. Some clean up work has been performed on the lakes.

Our annual picnic was held at Milt and Dorothy Anderson's with over 50 people in attendance. The Country Store Booth and Auction were successful, our potluck and companionship were a pleasure to all who attended.

One of the highlights of the year was our December meeting, we sponsored a special evening at the Cook Memorial Home in Libertyville. Our hosts for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Konefes. The home was decorated for a Victorian style holiday and we were able to browse freely throughout the public rooms. Cookies and coffee were served in the community room of the library.

Our Treasurer, Bob Brooks, has announced that 1983 dues and donations can be paid at our February meeting. This income will allow us to continue our research and preservation efforts.

Our annual meeting and potluck supper will be held February 8, 1983 at 6:30 pm in Lauren Hall, Millburn Congregational Church. Committee will furnish rolls, butter and beverage. Please join us and bring a dish to pass, invite a guest. Our speaker will be Mr. Ron Riepe, geology teacher from CLC. His subject will be "Glacial Heritage of Lake County".
